this could be anything

the smell of blown-out birthday candles.

I turn twenty-five today. I share a birthday with my twin sister (sending hugs your way!) and my dearest Ritzy (ola my darling!). The freaky thing is, we were all – all three of us – born on the same day at the same hospital.

Talk about cosmic divinity, eh?

Anyway, life has been good to me the past year. I got married, found a new job, settled in happily to both. Not without kinks and hijinks of course – but as the French say, c’est la vie. And that’s something I’ve been learning – to see setbacks as challenges and opportunities; to recognize the ajahn (teacher) in my problems.

Life is weird

and wonderful –

Equal parts

kisses and bruises,

tears and grins;

all-important hugs,

and big belly laughs

Here’s to the knots we untie; (the lessons learnt, questions answered, wounds mended)

and the love knots we tie, and tighten over the years (friendships, family, loved ones)

and all the jiggly bits like

eggs and sleeping in and love and pasta and good people and bad jokes and little peaceful moments and teh and blankets and Nacho Libre
