Meet our new dining room light!

Almost two years ago, we went to A Thousand Tales and since then I could not get this light out of my mind. At the time, it was out of our budget, plus we didn’t know when we were going to get our flat – if it was even going to happen in the near future. So we walked away slightly heartbroken (well, I did anyway).

But now I’m so glad we did, because this week we went back and found that the price had fallen by almost a third (thank goodness we have weird taste).

Thing is, I never thought the light would still available for sale, because when we were there 2 years ago, the guy told us they only had ‘one or two’ pieces. And that there were already buyers who were interested. This time round though, same guy tells us it’s part of an edition of 30…? (shrug) :)

So this means the lamp we bought from Grafunkt will go to one of the other rooms. This baby, though, is The One :)

  1. this feeling of your home coming together, coming to life, must be thrilling and exciting! I think it’s so great that you guys are taking your time buying each piece.

Hey melly, yes it is still a new sensation for me – exciting and a little scary – to nod your head and decide to put down good money for an item you’re meant to be using for really long. It’s still early days so I imagine as we get even closer to the date – start choosing finishings, big pieces of furniture (e.g. sofa) – then it’ll really be exciting!

Us ‘taking our time to buy each piece’ – funny, so far everyone looks at us with shock when we tell them our house is only ready end this year/early next year, like we’re crazy to be shopping so early. But you’ve framed it in a much nicer way! :)

Hey Joy! I’m not sure, but they did offer us a 10% discount on the light. There weren’t sales signs around the store or anything. I won’t be surprised if there was one though, suspect it might be a low-sales period for furniture brands now.

p.s. the chairs are lovely! but I do find them a little … overpriced? :) Lorgan’s is way more in our budget. Hehe.

So exciting to read about your home-building process :P, esp when I’m not around… HUGS

I love your finds! How did you find all these quirky furniture shops?

Also, if you haven’t got your house yet where do you keep all the stuff? Esp the table?

HI Joanne, thank you for stopping by! We stumbled upon Grafunkt in person, but A Thousand Tales was featured in some magazine article or something :) Currently we are living with my husband’s parents, and thank goodness for us, they have an attic where we can keep stuff for the time being.
