An exotic, love-filled wedding.

The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok was a stunning location. St-u-nning. From the oversize hanging bamboo bouquets of orchids, to the pyramid-tier roof, to the double-volume glass ceilings letting in natural light and verdant foliage – it was gorgeous.

Our dear friends married in the Author’s Lounge, an adjoining old colonial house that functions as a tea lounge during the day. The central courtyard is now covered over (thank goodness for air conditioning!).

It was a fun, song-filled, racuous wedding – I never fail to have a great time with these peeps. Warm memories for years to come :-)

Yixiao & Kuangwei’s wedding.

My dear friend Yixiao is probably one of the most stylish people you can ever meet. What can I say, the grrl’s got good taste (along with a good heart, ‘might I add). So naturally her wedding was full of gorgeous little touches, and she wore the most stunning dresses I’d seen on a bride. That Sretsis dress with feathers and chiffon layers… Oh, be still my heart!

But more than that, their wedding was an affair charged with love – from the groomsmen valiantly (annoyingly) trying to defend the groom from doing anything at all during gatecrashing, to the beautifully heartfelt, tear-worthy vows, to the glow of pride and joy on their families’ faces.

It was an honor to have been part of it :-)

Food lovers’ paradise.

One of my dearest friends Yixiao is getting hitched, and she has kindly agreed to let me share their amazing and heartfelt (and foodie!) pre-wedding shots.

Ivan Tan did a stellar job, I think (sidenote : his blog very adorably states in the heading – “making you wish you were getting married since 2007”), capturing the essence of the two of them in gloriously simple settings.

First, their usual weekend breakfast haunt …

Then, another weekend morning ritual – chai tow kway, enjoyed in their unfinished living room (love the exposed brick) :

Then, off to Ann Siang Hill!

Yixiao’s only got eyes for her banana butterscotch pud’ – poor KW! Haha.

Back alleys are cool.

Just divine – it’s impossible to pick a favourite since I love so many of them! Xiao and KW, I’m so happy for you two. (muah)

Wedding love : DK & Sophie.

One of the most touching, beautiful weddings I’ve seen this year are ex-schoolmates DK & Sophie’s intimate overseas wedding in Rome’s Vatican City.

Just them and their immediate families, in such a sacred, spiritual place.

How lovely is that!? :) What a wonderful celebration that marks the beginning of the rest of your lives. <3 Congratulations, you two!

whimsy and love.

Vianney and Elodie got married in a French forest. Her grandparents’ forest.

(does double take)

HOW COOL IS THAT?!

Love, pink, polka dots, leaves and branches, kisses, tutu skirts.

Awesome.

p.s. Attending a close friend’s wedding over the weekend has brought back my “wedding mojo” again, it seems! Hehe.

Whoa, Voyage de la Vie left me squirming in my seat last night… I couldn’t wait for it to end to be honest. Hastily glued (not even stitched!) together plotline with abrupt progression between scenes; mediocre singing and limited acting on protagonist Jon Leong’s part (and very poor diction) left me frustrated. The show has a lot of promise and great production standards, but the magic was lost on me. Thank goodness we didn’t pay for the tickets!

On a happier note, I smiled when I saw this gorgeous bride on A Cup of Jo, taken by the talented Kris

Chic = short dress + short hair + Chanel heels

And I’m totally in love with her vintage-inspired headpiece!

Sigh. :)
